'Pueblos Blancos'
High on the striking green, southern slopes of the Sierra de Tejeda & Almijara mountains, lie the picturesque 'white' villages of sun kissed Andalusia. The Roman and Arab civilizations have left their mark on the landscape and culture of this region. It is wonderful to walk in the small villages of the Pueblos Blancos or cycle through steep, narrow alleys through an 800-year-old Moorish past. In the surrounding area you will find impressive cultural cities such as Sevilla, Córdoba and Granada for an extra variety in your holiday in Andalusia.
Tejeda, Alhama and Almijara Natural Park
Cómpeta is located on the edge of the protected Sierra de Tejeda, Alhama & Almijara Natural Park (40,660Ha). In the Axarquia region, with rugged mountains up to 2,063 meters in height. Wonderful for walking along deep gorges with beautifully overgrown streams and small villages. A beautifully secluded, rugged and above all impressive patural park, far away from mass tourism with beautiful hiking trails. The park is particularly special because of the enormous variety of rare plants and birds. In addition to hiking, another popular activity here is mountain biking.

Where shall we stroll to today?
Just an example: A brisk day of hiking, will let you climb the peaks of the Maroma (2,067m) and Lucero (1,779m) mountains. But there are also several shorter and lighter walks possible. Fast-flowing mountain streams and rivers, irrigation canals and fields are interspersed with rugged abysses, peaks rising high into the blue sky and authentic white mountain villages. Olive, orange and almond trees surround the villages on the sun-lit terraces.
There are countless hiking routes available in this beautiful nature park and there is something to do and see for everyone!
